What we do

In undertaking its activities, the Council must have regard to the objectives and guiding principles from the Marine and Coastal Act.

The Council has developed its 2024-26 Business Plan to outline its priorities to:

• Fulfil its responsibilities under the Marine and Coastal Act (2018).
• Improve the effectiveness and application of the Marine and Coastal Policy.
• Champion increased investment into marine and coastal management.
• Support land managers and decision-makers to respond to the issues, impacts, and implications of climate change.
• Effectively contribute to the implementation of marine and coastal policy and strategy.
• Develop and progress projects addressing strategic issues to improve the planning and management of Victoria’s marine and coastal environments
• Utilise the expertise of its Expert Advisory Panel to support this work with the best available evidence.
